Skobelev Park

A memorial park with monuments to the Pleven Epopee and home to the famous Panorama.

Distance from the hotel: ≈ 12 min walk
Skobelev Park

Skobelev Park, also known as Freedom Park, was created in memory of the battles at Pleven in 1877. It bears the name of General Mikhail Skobelev — one of the heroes of the liberation.

Within the park stand dozens of monuments, common graves and memorial markers dedicated to the soldiers who fell in the Russo-Turkish War.

It is also home to the famous Panorama "The Pleven Epopee" — the heart of the entire memorial complex.

Among the greenery, fragments of the fortifications and positions from the time of the siege have been recreated, carrying the visitor back into the historical setting.

Beyond being a historical site, the park is also a favourite place for a stroll — alleys among the greenery, tranquillity and pleasant views over the city.

The park is wonderful for morning walks and quiet afternoons — a green oasis where history and nature meet.

A pleasant walk from Hotel Rostov, the park is a wonderful place to combine history with relaxation in the open air.
